Braves Tame the Lobos

On November 4th, Baldwin Park’s water polo team triumphed over Workman on their Senior Night, with a final score of 25-6.

Headed into the game the Braves knew they had to get the win in order to become league champions. With it also being Senior Night, this gave them extra motivation to try harder this game.

The game started off with a very fast pace for B.P., in which they were able to quickly score multiple times in succession to make the score 5-0. Workmen’s defense simply could not stop the Braves’ impeccable passes, which led to easy scores. Additionally, two out of six of Workmen’s points were made when a player launched the ball from across the pool and surprisingly made it. At the half, Baldwin Park was up 11-3, leaving them with confidence.team pic

Interim coach Carlos Aparicio stated that, “In the second half we kinda slowed down the game, just to not be able to score as many goals on the other team… the seniors were able to stay in the whole game just because of that.”

Baldwin Park was easily able to finish the game strong and defeat Workman with a score of 25-6. Their record moved up to 7-1 in league.

However, due to rival school Sierra Vista having the same record, they were forced to share the title of league champions. They will be forced to flip a coin with S.V. and the outcome of the coin flip this week will determine who gains first seed advantage headed into CIF.

“Overall we had a pretty successful season for these guys not having their real coach the whole season… We’re back-to-back league champs in a sense,” noted Coach Aparicio.

Just share it.
