Fantastitc Beasts and Where to Find Them: Movie Review

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, seems like an additional film approved by J.K. Rowling in an attempt to just create more profit. However, the excitement it received from many Harry Potter fans was well-justified. This film is a British American film directed by David Yates and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie was written and produced by J.K. Rowling, who also created the Harry Potter series, which this is a prequel to.maxresdefault

Although this storyline is a prequel to the Harry Potter storyline, it is important to keep in mind that the Harry Potter series and the Fantastic Beasts series, have no relations to each other, besides wizardry,  and should not be compared with each other.

Just arriving from England and only meaning to stay in New York briefly, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) is on his way to Arizona. Along with him, he carries an array of magical creatures in his magical suitcase. These creatures range from small twig-like creatures to large, majestic bird-like creatures.

The film takes place in the 1920s, during a time where there is tension between wizards and non-wizards. An anti-witch group is on the rise, claims there are supernatural forces, and tries to expose the wizard community.fantasticbeastsposter

By coincidence, Newt’s suitcase filled with magical creatures get switched by accident with another suitcase of a No-Maj, Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler). Tina Goldstein happens to see this occurrence and arrests Newt.

Without knowledge of the contents in the case, Kowalski lets loose several of the magical creatures from Newt’s case.

This situation soon catches the attentions of Percival Graves (Colin Farrell), who is investigating a dark evil that has recently swept through New York City.

Overall, I rate this movie 5/5, because it was a thrilling and action-filled, yet still kept its creative integrity, keeping all viewers immersed in the plot until the very end.

Just share it.
