Brave Donations

On August 23, 2016, the BPHS student body held their triannual Red Cross Blood Drive in the gym. The Red Cross has had a great relationship with Baldwin Park, producing thousands of pints to help local hospitals.

The expectation was to have 140-150 pints donated. The goal seemed very reachable because this year everyone that donated received a free L.A. County Fair ticket.

Dan D’ Angelo, senior account manager, who has been with the Red Cross for 20 years, stated, “We are extremely grateful for Baldwin Park High School for hosting a blood drive three times a year. The reason is because it helps with summer shortages.”

Our successful blood drive would not be possible without the help of Ms. Farrell. Ms. Farrell expectation was for fellow Braves to “give over 100 pints and have the feeling of being good citizens.”

Our donators signed up to save many lives, since each pint saves three lives. Kevin Ramirez said his reason for donating was, “To save a life and to experience something new.”

Michelle Alverez was a volunteer helping with passing out food and drinks. Michelle had high hopes for this blood drive as she stated, “This is my fifth blood drive working and I hope to get 200 people to donate.”

At the end of the day we donated 129 pints to the Red Cross. This ended up as another successful Blood Drive!blood drive cyrus
