Badminton Soars Past Sierra Vista

BALDWIN PARK — On April 5, Baldwin Park’s varsity Badminton team took on Sierra Vista in the SV gym, and won 19 out of 21 sets, losing only the Boys Single Division.

Being their crosstown rivals, Baldwin Park was ecstatic to challenge Sierra Vista on their own home court, as B.P. had  defeated them previously at home.

First to take the court were Mixed Doubles 1, Sharon Tran and Leon Truong, winning both games with an impressive margin of vibadminton 2ctory. Mixed Doubles 2, which consisted of Shwe Nemyo and Nhut-Linh Ngo, also won both of their sets against Sierra Vista, which set the mood for the rest of the evening.

In the hot SV gym you could see players on both sides swinging their rackets trying to get that magical number, 21, in order to finish their sets.

At the end of the day, Baldwin Park’s junior varsity finished 16-5, while varsity finished strong, 19-2. Varsity Badminton goes on with a 6-1 record after this win, and is currently second in the Montview League.
