Potterheads Rejoice

There is a whole new world opening up at Universal Studios Hollywood! The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will hold its grand opening on April 7th after two and a half years of construction.

The whole project had been estimated to cost $500 million. This number includes upgrades to the surrounding areas, including the tear down of the 40-year-old Gibson Ampitheatre and the Adventures of Curious George water play area.

Although this Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be similar to the one in Florida, it will be about half its size. The attraction in Hollywood will only be six acres, while the one in Florida is 13 acres. The only noticeable difference in Hollywood will be the absence of the Dragon Challenge dueling twin-track roller coaster.

The six acres will also be filled with various Harry Potter theme shops such as Ollivanders wand shop, Zonko’s joke shop, Honeydukes candy store, Dervish and Banges clothing store, Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods gift shop, Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment, Gladrags Wizardwear and Owl Post stationery Hogwarts-Express-Conductor-WWoHP-at-USH 2shop.

There are reports that Universal also has plans to open up a Diagon Alley expansion in replace of  the Waterworld stunt show.

Just share it.
