Who Will Take Home the Golden Statue?

Amid the white Oscar scandal, nearly 40 million people are still anxiously waiting to see who will take home the coveted golden statue. Will Leonardo DiCaprio finally win his first Oscar after years of unjustful snubs? Or will Brie Larson outstage Oscar-winning veteran Jennifer Lawrence, by taking home her first Oscar? These are the nail-biting questions people are waiting to be answered this Sunday, February 28th, 2016.

Out of the eight nominees for Best Picture, to no one’s surprise, the film most likely to take the award is The Revenant directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and starring Leonardo DiCaprio. If The Revenant does not win, the winner will most likely be Spotlight directed by  Tom McCarthy, with a stellar cast including Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, and Michael Keaton.

Fittingly, with the possible win of The Revenant, this year could also be the year everyone, including  Leonardo DiCaprio, has been waiting for the year in which; DiCaprio takes home an Oscar. It is believed that DiCaprio will take home his first oscar for Best Actor in The Revenant after five nominations with no wins. With DiCaprio’s luck, if he is snubbed the most likely second winner would be Michael Fassbender for his role in Steve Jobs.

room-1Another hot topic of the Oscars is who will win for Best Actress; with the list of nominees filled with A-list actresses, the choosing seems difficult, but Brie Larson has seemed to exceed expectation. Brie Larson seems to be the frontrunner to win her first Oscar for her role in the novel-based film Room. Most critics believe Brie Larson is a solid win for this coveted award.

These are the most anticipated awards of the night, but we will just have to wait until this Sunday’s Oscars to see which lucky actors, actresses, and film crew will take home the golden statue.

Just share it.
