Lady Braves Send the Lobos Packing

BALDWIN PARK– On Wednesday, February 10th, the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team smashed the Workman Lobos in a riveting game with a score of 5-0.

The game started off strong with Allyah Rueff making the first goal against the Lobos in the initial minutes of the game.

Allison Pimentel made an excellent attempt at another goal. Most of the game was played with the ball in the Braves possession, making most of the attempts towards scoring a goal. Not only was it in the Braves possession but, for the majority of the game the ball was played in the Braves’ perimeter. Danielle Martinez showed great defense throughout the whole half, pushing back the Lobos attempts at making a goal.

In the last couple of minutes of the first half Allision Pimentel made a jaw dropping goal, making the score of the first half  2-0.

untitledThe first goal in the second half was made by Samantha Vega, bringing the Braves to a giant lead of 3-0. The second half was action packed,  Jessyca Gonzalez and Vega were both successful in pushing through the Lobos defense. Pimentel made her second goal of the night in the middle of the second half, making the score 4-0.

“We played as a team and were successful offensively and defensively,” stated striker Pimentel.

Perhaps the most outstanding goal was the final one made by senior, Reyna Gaitan, which was a header. This made the final score a whopping 5-0. This was the most fitting considering that this game was the Lady Braves’ Senior Night.

Senior, Gaitan explained, “I’ve never had the opportunity to play the forward position, in which I always wished I had, and when the coaches gave me the opportunity, I took it with a header.”

Just share it.
