Lady Brave Exhibit Their Strong Defense

BALDWIN PARK– On Friday, January 29th, the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team lost against the Sierra Vista Dons, with a score of 2-0 at Baldwin Park High School.

Reyna Gaytan stated, “I feel that our greatest strength in this game was that we all worked as a team and every single player played with their hearts on the field and mind on the game.”

The game started off slowly, as both teams struggled to score. The girls continually tried to take the ball from Sierra Vista’s possession, but to no avail. Most of the time the ball was in Sierra Vista’s possession, with their girls continuously trying to score. Alyah Rueff and Samantha Vega did a fantastic job in repeatedly getting the ball into the Braves possession.

The first half was mostly uneventful, with much of it played in the Dons possession.  The Braves showed an outstanding defense, with Reyna Gaytan exhibiting a strong defense in this first half, the first half ended with  a score of 0-0.

In the second half, the DSC_0883ball continued to be in the Don’s possession but Rueff and Vega showed outstanding strength when they continually took the ball into their possession. Both continued to push forward but to no avail. Jessyca Gonzalez exhibited great defense throughout  this half. Gonzalez and Allison Pimentel were fantastic in reaching the goal perimeter. Pimentel made attempts at a goal, but none succeeded.

Much of the goals in the game were made in a short period of time, although the Braves exhibited strong defense, the Dons were able to get past and make a goal. After much back and forth the Don’s were able to make their second score, making the final score 2-0.
