Lobos Devour the Braves


BALDWIN PARK, CA- On January 23rd the Braves varsity basketball team faced the Workman Lobos at home in their fourth league game and lost with a score of 70-58.

Both teams started off their season undefeated as Baldwin Park had previously played against Azusa, Sierra Vista, and Gladstone, while the Lobos had beaten Azusa, Duarte, and Sierra Vista. The game was going to decide who was going to lead the rankings in the Montview league.

In the first quarter of the game, the Braves started off slow as the Lobos took the lead. Jose Castaneda led the offensive, making a total of seven points near the end of the quarter.

William Trinidad started the second quarter by gaining three points for the Braves. This was almosIMG_1878t immediately followed by two free throws made by Chris Giron and David Brizuela.

The second half of the game the Braves strived to catch up to the Lobos. Trinidad and Castaneda led the Braves as they sought to even the score with the Lobos. At the end of the game even though it was evident that the Braves had lost, they still pressed on as Fernando Carillo scored a three pointer eight seconds before the end of the final quarter, ending the game with a score of 70-58.

Though the Braves lost against Workman, they are still currently ranked second in the Montview league with a record of 3-1. On Wednesday January 27, the Braves will be taking on the Duarte Falcons at Duarte High School, so make sure to head on over to support their season if you can.
