Star Wars Smashes Records


Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released on December 18, 2015. Before it had even been released, a number of records had already been broken by the movie. Just a couple days before the release, over $100 million had already been sold in advanced ticket sales, beating other 2015 films such as Fifty Shades of Grey and Jurassic Park. It earned $57 million during Thursday night sales-the most ever-one day before the official release.
After just three weeks, Star Wars: The Force Awakens broke an unprecedented amount of box office records. The most recent being the Highest-Grossing Film of All Time (not accounting for inflation), surpassing Avatar in just 20 days. Others include, Biggest Opening Day, Biggest First, Second, and Third weekend, Highest Grossing Disney Release, Biggest Sunday Gross, Biggest Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day Gross, and the Fastest Film to make $1 Billion, along with many, many other records.
With The Force Awakens only being in the theatre for three weeks, it is still breaking records every day, especially since many fans tend to watch the movie more than once, proving that, the force is truly strong with this movie.
