Nothing new but a return for one of McDonald’s underrated sauces known as Szechuan sauce. Thanks to the famous animated show Rick and Morty, McDonalds brought out the old recipe books.

Rick and Morty is a show on Adultswim  about a character named Rick Sanchez who out of the blue comes to stay with his daughter’s family. Rick’s son-in-law, Jerry, is concerned about living under the same roof with Rick due to him being known as a sociopathic scientist, although there is more to Jerry’s concern. Rick also goes on dangerous adventures across the universe and involves his grandchildren, Morty and Summer.

On April 1st, a new a episode of Rick was Morty was aired. At the end of the episode, Rick lectures Morty and starts yelling about Szechuan sauce. After the episode, Rick and Morty fans blew up social media about the sauce. The sauce was a former Chicken Nugget dip for McDonald’s in 1998. The main purpose for Szechuan sauce was to promote Disney’s animated film, Mulan.

Due to all the hype, McDonalds brought back the sauce for a limited time. Unfortunately only some McDonald’s restaurants carried the sauce and only a limited number of sauces were made. Many were desperate just to try the sauce or get ahold of a packet. Single packets of the sauce are being sold on Ebay from $100-$500.
