Although the iPhone is already one of the most popular smartphones on the available market, Apple’s iconic smartphone will take things to the next level once the iPhone 8 is released later this year.

2017 is a momentous year, as it marks ten years of the Apple iPhone and it won’t be surprising to see Apple launch something special to mark the occasion. After all, the iPhone is their most successful product and has changed the way the smartphone industry works.

Apple is rumored to be testing more than 10 prototype iPhone models, thus the many speculations for the next model are not for sure.

“For example, the methods described herein may be applied in detecting the locations of the hands in an image of a user of a gesture-controlled computerized system, so that the posture and motions of the hand can be recognized quickly and reliably. As another example, these methods may be used in a vehicle-mounted system for automatic detection and reading of traffic signs,” Apple said.

The majority of the rumors suggest Touch ID may be built directly into the display, meaning there will be no Home button, but Apple is said to be having trouble implementing Touch ID under the display.

Wayne Lam, a HS Markit analyst, explained, “We anticipate Apple will adopt a flat implementation of OLED design on their special iPhone model, which is analogous to the current 2.5D glass design.”

The iPhone 8 is said to be similar in size to the 4.7-inch iPhone, but with a display the size of the 5.5-inch iPhone. It may possibly feature a 5.8-inch display with 5.15 inches of usable area, with the rest dedicated to virtual buttons that will replace the existing Home button.

At least one iPhone model coming in 2017 will use a glass body, similar to the iPhone 4 model, according to Apple supplier Catcher Technology, and according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the glass will be built around a polished stainless steel frame that’s similar in design to the Apple Watch.

Earlier a report in Fortune Magazine estimated the price of the limited edition iPhone 8 at $1,000. However, it has also been suggested that there may be a “premium” model, costing more than $1,000.

Additionally, there have been indications that some of Apple’s partners responsible for supplying some of the iPhone 8’s components won’t be able to supply production factories in time for the anticipated September launch.
