Cross Country

Back to Back League Champs

On November 4, 2015 the Montview League held their cross country league

finals at Schabarum Regional Park. The league consisted of Azusa, Duarte, Gladstone,

Sierra Vista, and BPHS’ defending league champs for Junior Varsity and

Varsity. Sr. Salvador Capetillo and Sr. Adolfo Velasquez lead the team to a back to back

league title in the Montview League. Both hit 15:32 and tied for the first place spot, in

the end Sr. Adolfo Velasquez was our Individual League Champ. Jr. Jose Melchor came

in third place, earning the Braves all three podium spots.

Jr. Jose Campos was the Junior Varsity League champ with a time of 17:08,

followed by Sr. Francisco Cardoso, and Sr. Timothy Lam earning Baldwin Park Cross

Country team another League champ title.

“Before the race, I was thinking to myself that it will be my last cross country

league race in high school, so I will have to make the best of it. I was also thinking about

the younger guys, that it will be their last race for the season as well. After the race, I

was proud of the younger guys because they ran their hearts out and was even more

proud that we as a team swept the league yet again. Now it’s time for the post season

and hoping to advance to CIF finals and to state,” said Sr. Timothy Lam.

“It was the last race of the season for most of the guys and I’m sure they did their

best,” said Sr. Francisco Cardoso.

Two individual Montview League Champs and two League Champ Team Titles.

Now our BPHS Cross Country team will move on to CIF, where they will compete for a

chance to run at the state level.

Just share it.
