More life: Album Review

Rapper Drake released his anticipated album More Life on the 18 of March on Apple Musics Beats 1 Radio and it broke the record for most listeners on a Beats 1 show in history. Additionally, Drake’s new album broke all records by being streamed the most times of any album in the first 24 hours of release, 89.9 million times in those hours alone.

The album contains 22 songs, the most of any Drake album, with each song varying from the next. The most popular songs of the album include Passionfruit, Portland, Gyalchester, and Blem.

Passionfruit can easily be said to be the best song of the album; it contains a great R&B and pop beat which really helps pull the song apart from the others. The song also has simple lyrics that talk about a passionate romance and, how even though the girl does not like him anymore, Drake still feels the passion in her words.

Portland is the rap song that people were looking for with great features like Quavo and Travis Scott. The song has kind of a funny beat but is a good uplifting song.

Gyalchester is probably the hardest song on the album along with KMT, which was a favorite of a lot of people who disliked Drake’s album for having too many sad pop songs.

Even though this album has been the number 1 album on the Billboard 200 for 3 weeks and has received a lot of praise there are some issues with it. The biggest issue is that the songs in which he featured great artists like PartyNextDoor and Kanye West, were just not that good. Kanye West has more of a fast paced flow but Drake decided to make the flow on Glow slow paced, which didn’t really benefit either of them.

Overall, the album is very good even though Drake’s songs had a more mellow style. The album was great with my favorite songs being Passionfruit, Nothings into Something, Teenage Fever, and Sacrifice. I really liked the album and it deserves all of the praise it has achieved as of yet. I give the album 4.9/5.

Just share it.
